Riley Waite

Riley Waite is a contemporary painter drawn to the unguarded moments of street life — the brawls, the chases, the small acts of defiance that play out under sodium light and falling rain. His large oils marry photographic observation with painterly drama: figures caught mid-motion, hoods up, faces blurred, wet pavement throwing back the heat of red brake-lights or the cold of a winter morning. There is no comment in the work, only attention — a refusal to look away from how the world actually moves.
