IRISH · BASED IN IRELAND

Dorothy Ledwith

Dorothy Ledwith is a contemporary Irish painter drawn to the working edge of the Atlantic — the cranes, jetties and quayside warehouses that mark Irelands estuary towns. Her oils carry the colour of weathered industry: dock-yard ochres, brackish blues, the soft warmth of low evening light. There is a stillness to her harbours, where structure and atmosphere settle into one another and the residue of work becomes its own kind of beauty.

A study of Foynes harbour on the Shannon Estuary — the orange port crane catching the last of the evening light against a long line of dockside warehouses, the quay heavy with the soft dark of low tide. Oil on canvas.
