IRISH ARTISTDeclan Greene

Declan Greene
Declan’s paintings are passionate, colourful, compositions. There are plein air works, capturing luminosity and mood in the landscape; there are also abstract works that invite our subconscious to open and to interpret. These interpretations will evolve for a viewer over time – all are spaces for wonder and calm introspection, in a very fast moving modern world.
There is a strong painterly quality evident in the works, undoubtedly influenced by his detailed study of masterworks while travelling to the world’s finest collections; and photographically documenting the paintings in microscopic detail for the Google Art Project.
After 20 years working in design and photography, Declan studied painting in the New York Studio School, tutored by John Newman (former head of Sculpture at Yale) and Graham Nichson Dean of the school. He was awarded a six month residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre and has since been twice a prize winner at the Adare plein Air competition, he is also a prize winner at the Boyle Outsiders Art Exhibition. Based in Dublin – he has had solo shows in Kilkenny and Limerick, as well as exhibiting in group shows all over Ireland and in NYC. His work is in private collections in Ireland, Europe and the USA.
