Brand new ArtistCatherine Fleming

Catherine Fleming is a self taught Artist from Galway. Catherine’s artistic practice involves exploring the idea of pure physical expression, how the body alone can portray emotions and an individuals self image.

Often excluding or distorting the faces in her paintings , Catherine believes facial expressions can be more easily fabricated than the expressions articulated by the rest of the body, in that all humans , with practice can master the ability to control what their facial expressions tell the outside world , yet body language is less than easily manipulated.

Over the years Catherine has developed a surreal yet representative style, combining elements of abstract to obscure her otherwise classical , figurative works. Currently Catherine is working from her studio over looking Galway Bay.
