Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” Pablo Picasso

Great art picks up where nature ends.”  Marc Chagall

The position of the artist is humble. He is essentially a channel.” Piet Mondrian

The Beginning

Gallery owner Dave O’Shea curates a small , intimate exhibition for Artist Hazel Revington-Cross in the Greville Arms hotel, Mullingar, Co Westmeath.

Pop up shops in local hotels were the next logical steps to get a feel for local art collectors and their tastes.

Along with business partner Hazel Revington-Cross, both decided to close down Garden Centre business and turn shed into small gallery.. ‘The Garden Gallery’ was born.

Both Hazel and Dave learned their trades and part company to pursue different artistic roads but still relying on each other for help. In this year The Purple Raven Gallery and Chimera Gallery both opened.

Timelapse video of Dave doing alot of work and the rest of us looking at him doing said work.

Owner & part time staff

The Chimera is a one man show so to speak but would hire local help for exhibition evenings and would be lost without them. The Gallery takes part in local school intern schemes and work experience.

All programming and exhibitions are run by Dave, the Chimera very much involves the artist to input as much as possible and tailors to their different needs.

The Chimera will in 2020 start an international collaboration with Galleries in New York, Chicago and Austria… A very exciting time ahead
